Installing a PVC floor in Spain requires a different approach than in the Netherlands.

Many homes on the Costa Blanca have existing tile floors with height differences, deep joints, or slight movement in the subfloor. Floors here also have to deal much more with heat, sunlight, and temperature differences.

That’s why we first look at the home itself before recommending a floor.

Is there underfloor heating present?
How stable is the existing tile floor?
And which appearance best suits the home?

This ultimately determines which PVC floor looks best and remains the most stable.

In Spain, this often goes wrong. A floor may look fine immediately after installation, but if the subfloor is not properly prepared, problems often arise later such as visible joints, floor movement, or seams becoming noticeable.

That’s why we pay a lot of attention to the base under the floor.

PVC over tiles in Altea

Many customers in Altea want to have a PVC floor installed over their existing tile floor. This is often possible without demolition work, but preparation remains extremely important.

Many Spanish tile floors are not completely flat. Small height differences or deep joints may seem harmless but often become visible in the final result.

That’s why in many cases we first level the entire subfloor before installing a new PVC floor. This ensures a much smoother final look and prevents long-term problems.

A flat base is especially important for dryback PVC floors.

Herringbone PVC in Altea

Herringbone PVC is extremely popular in Altea, especially in modern villas and renovated apartments.

Not because it is loud, but precisely because it gives a home more character without feeling busy. Especially with calm oak tones and matte finishes, much more warmth arises in a space.

Many customers combine a herringbone PVC floor with light walls, natural materials, and calm window decorations. This creates the warm Mediterranean atmosphere that many homes on the Costa Blanca are looking for.

A beautiful floor does not have to be overly present to bring a lot of atmosphere.

Dryback or click PVC?

The choice between dryback PVC and click PVC depends entirely on the home.

In many homes on the Costa Blanca, we advise a glued dryback PVC floor. Especially with large sliding doors, lots of sunlight, or larger surfaces, a glued floor often remains more stable.

That does not mean that click PVC cannot be a good choice. In some apartments or renovation projects, a click floor can actually be very suitable.

We prefer to look at what is technically logical for the home rather than the fastest solution.
