Installing a LVT floor in Spain requires a different approach than in the Netherlands.
Many homes on the Costa Blanca have existing tile floors with height differences, deep grout lines, or slight movement in the subfloor. Floors here also have to cope with much more heat, sunlight, and temperature fluctuations.
That is precisely why we first assess the property itself before recommending a floor.
Is underfloor heating present?
How stable is the existing tile floor?
And which look best suits the property?
Ultimately, this determines which LVT floor will look best and remain the most stable.
In Spain, this still regularly goes wrong. A floor may look perfectly fine immediately after installation, but if the subfloor has not been properly prepared, problems often arise later, such as visible grout lines, movement in the floor, or seams becoming visible.
That is why we pay particular attention to the base beneath the floor.
LVT over tiles in Altea
Many customers in Altea would like to have a LVT floor installed over their existing tile floor. In many cases, this is perfectly possible without demolition work, but the preparation remains extremely important.
Many Spanish tile floors are not completely level. Small height differences or deep grout lines may sometimes seem harmless, but they often become visible in the final result later on.
That is why, in many situations, we first level the entire subfloor before installing a new LVT floor. This creates a much calmer overall appearance and prevents problems in the long term.
Especially with dryback LVT flooring, a level base is extremely important.

Herringbone LVT is extremely popular in Altea, especially in modern villas and renovated apartments.
Not because it is loud, but precisely because it gives a home more character without feeling busy. Especially with subtle oak tones and matte finishes, it adds much more warmth to a space.

Dryback or click LVT?
The choice between dryback LVT and click LVT depends entirely on the home.
In many homes on the Costa Blanca, we recommend a glued dryback LVT floor. Especially with large sliding doors, lots of sunlight, or larger areas, a glued floor often remains more stable.
That does not mean click LVT cannot be a good choice. In some apartments or renovation projects, click flooring can actually be very suitable.
We prefer to look at what makes technical sense for the home rather than choosing the quickest solution.

In a quotation, such details are less noticeable than the name of a collection, but during everyday use they determine whether the result truly impresses. Therefore, ask for an explanation of every layer and finish being proposed.
It is also true that a glued installation provides a different underfoot experience and heat transfer than a floating click system. When products can be installed in different ways, the supplier should explain why one method is preferred for your home. A choice without justification is not advice but a gamble accompanied by an attractive sample.
Assessing before the final order
A practical check is simple: a sample area or laid-out package gives a better idea of how much color and texture variation the collection actually has. Combine this with photos of the room, the direction in which doors open, and information about underfloor heating or intense sunlight. This brings aesthetic and technical considerations together.
Finally, establish who will move the furniture, how the subfloor will be left, where materials can be stored temporarily, and when the room may be used again. Good planning prevents damage and rushed work during the final stages.
A complete handover
After installation, check not only the main surface but also the edges, skirting boards, profiles, seams, and connections. Ask what maintenance is permitted from day one.
