This base price excludes any additional subfloor repairs, primer for special subfloors, skirting boards, profiles, door adjustments, removal of an existing floor, and the required allowance for cutting waste.

The final price depends on the product selected, the area, the installation pattern, the condition of the existing floor, and the desired finish.

For a home with 60 m² of net floor area, a simple example calculation is as follows:

When ordering the flooring, an allowance is also made for cutting waste. The required quantity depends on the shape of the rooms, the size of the planks, and the chosen installation pattern. Herringbone and other patterns generally require more material and labor than a straight plank pattern.

Why do we level floors for dryback PVC?

A dryback PVC floor is bonded directly to the subfloor. As a result, the material follows every joint, defect, and irregularity beneath the floor. Without proper preparation, these may later become visible on the surface, especially when daylight falls across the floor.

Many homes on the Costa Blanca have an existing tiled floor. This can often serve as an excellent base, but it must be inspected and professionally prepared before installation.

For our dryback installations, we level the subfloor in order to:

to eliminate tile joints and minor irregularities;
to create a level subfloor;
to apply the adhesive evenly;
to prevent the joints from showing through in the new floor;
to achieve a sleek and durable end result.

That is why we do not install dryback PVC directly onto an unlevelled tiled floor.

Can dryback PVC be installed over existing tiles?

Yes, in many cases dryback PVC can be installed over an existing Spanish tiled floor. However, the tiles must be stable and firmly fixed. Loose tiles, cracks, moisture problems, or significant height differences must first be inspected and repaired.

After the necessary preparation, a leveling layer is applied. This creates a flat base onto which the PVC planks can be professionally bonded.

This makes it possible to install a new floor without having to remove the entire tiled floor.

a suitable primer or additional subfloor preparation;
additional leveling thickness for greater height differences;
skirting boards and transition profiles;

Dryback PVC or click PVC?

Dryback PVC requires more preparation because the subfloor must be flat and leveled. In return, the floor is fully bonded and provides an exceptionally sleek and stable result.

Click PVC is installed as a floating floor and can be installed more quickly in suitable situations. Which floor is the best choice depends on the subfloor, sun exposure, surface area, desired finish, and how the home is used.
