PVC and LVT: sleek, strong and versatile

PVC is popular in homes on the Costa Blanca because it combines a calm appearance with easy maintenance. The choice between dryback and click PVC depends on the subfloor, desired build-up height, use and planning. Dryback is fully glued down and requires a very flat base. Click PVC is installed as a floating floor and can be practical in certain renovations, but it is not an automatic solution for every tiled floor.

In addition to straight planks, we supply herringbone, Hungarian point, tile designs and understated concrete or polished-concrete looks. The right balance of plank, pattern and colour is determined by the floor area, natural light and sightlines in the home.

High-quality carpet: softer, quieter and more luxurious

Carpet is often underrepresented in Spain, even though it adds considerable comfort in bedrooms, dressing rooms, staircases and quiet living areas. Our collections from Dutch suppliers offer a choice of pile structures, wool, synthetic fibres, natural shades and hard-wearing contract qualities. This makes carpet much more than the basic quality often offered locally as standard.

Sheet vinyl: comfortable and surprisingly high-quality

Modern vinyl is not the same as the thin floor covering of the past. High-quality collections feature realistic wood, stone and concrete designs, a strong protective layer and a comfortable surface. Thanks to wide rolls, a room can often be finished with very few seams. This makes vinyl interesting for bedrooms, apartments, offices and holiday homes.

The existing tiled floor does not always need to be removed

Many Spanish homes have ceramic tiles or natural stone. In various situations, a new floor can be installed over them, but only after the subfloor has been technically inspected. Hollow or loose tiles, deep joints, moisture problems and major height differences must not be concealed beneath new material.

Doors, sliding doors, kitchen installations and level transitions also matter. Sometimes levelling is sufficient; in other cases, local repairs are needed or removal is the better solution. On our page about replacing a tiled floor in Spain, you can read how we make that assessment.

Underfloor heating, sunlight and the Spanish climate

For underfloor heating, we consider the total thermal resistance of the floor, adhesive or underlay. A low build-up is often beneficial, but only when the material and installation are suitable together. Direct sunlight also plays a role with large glazed areas. Not every floor responds in the same way to prolonged heat and temperature differences.

That is why we combine manufacturer data with the practical situation in the home. Solar shading, climate control, expansion joints and the chosen installation method can all affect the final result.
