Mounting close to the glass is compact and often moves with the window. Wall or ceiling mounting can provide more overlap, but requires clearance for the window sash, package, and operation.

Stack height and clear window opening

A raised pleated blind disappears into a compact stack, but not completely. Height, fabric type, number of layers, and profiles determine how much space is needed at the top.

For doors and tall windows, the stack must be able to remain outside the clear opening. Ask for the expected size rather than assuming a small showroom sample.

View the product fully open, half-open, and closed. The frequently used intermediate position is precisely what determines whether the stack, handle, and sightline are comfortable in everyday use.

Manual, cordless, or electric

The available operation may be manual, safe corded operation, or motorized, depending on the system, size, weight, power supply, and daily use. Handles are intuitive when they remain accessible; cords require safety features; motorization helps with height or multiple systems.

Document who will use the product, which intermediate positions are needed, and whether the controls remain accessible behind furniture, a bathtub, kitchen countertop, or desk.

For motorization, test and document the end positions, groups, transmitters, and power supply during handover. Also retain information about charging, resetting, and manual emergency operation.

Child safety

Open every window as far as possible during the survey. A difference of just a few centimeters can determine whether the window treatment, insect screen, ventilation, or cleaning will continue to function without problems.

Pleated blinds and Duette are available for some triangular, trapezoidal, or roof windows, but not every shape can open fully or use the same operating method.

A template, drawing, or specialist survey may be required. Discuss in advance which part moves and where a fixed section of fabric will remain visible.
