Zip screens in Spain

Zip screens are among the most popular forms of exterior solar shading for homes on the Costa Blanca. They combine the heat-blocking properties of traditional screens with an additional wind-resistant system, making them particularly suitable for the Spanish coast.

For apartments, villas and homes with large glass surfaces, zip screens offer a stylish and effective solution for keeping the heat out without losing the view.

What are zip screens?

A zip screen works on the same principle as a traditional screen, but features a special zip system on both sides of the fabric.

This keeps the fabric securely enclosed in the side guides and prevents it from flapping out as it can with standard systems. This creates a neater appearance and significantly greater wind resistance.

Especially on the Costa Blanca, where wind is common, this offers important advantages.

Why choose zip screens?

The greatest strength of zip screens is the combination of comfort, appearance and technical performance.

Because the fabric remains taut in the guides, zip screens also perform excellently in locations with stronger winds. At the same time, they retain all the benefits of regular screens, such as heat protection, privacy and an unobstructed view.

For many homes, zip screens therefore offer the most complete solution.

Ideal for apartments on the Costa Blanca

Apartments are often located at greater heights and are therefore more exposed to wind loads. That is precisely why zip screens are widely used for apartments in Altea, Calpe, Benidorm, Moraira and Jávea.

Because the fabric is held securely in the guides, the system remains stable, even when conditions are less favorable.

This makes zip screens particularly suitable for balconies, large windows and sliding doors.

Zip screens for large sliding doors

Many modern homes feature large sliding doors and panoramic windows. Although they let in plenty of light, they also cause a significant heat load.

Zip screens offer an effective solution by blocking the sun before it reaches the glass. This keeps the home cooler while preserving the view.

Keep the heat out without losing the view

An important advantage of zip screens is that they keep out the heat without making the home feel dark or enclosed.

Depending on the fabric chosen, the view outside remains largely unobstructed, while annoying glare and much of the heat are kept out.

This creates a comfortable indoor climate without compromising daylight or the view.

Electric operation as standard

Virtually all modern zipscreens are electrically operated. This means that even larger systems can be controlled easily with a remote control, app, or automatic sensors.

For many homes, this provides extra comfort and ease of use.

Zipscreens or roller shutters?

Zipscreens and roller shutters each have their own advantages.

Zipscreens are ideal when you want to keep out heat while retaining the view. Roller shutters provide maximum blackout, additional insulation, and complete privacy.

The best solution depends on the property and your personal preferences.
