In Benissa, we installed approximately 130 m² of straight dryback PVC in Light Oak throughout this home. The new floor was installed throughout almost the entire house and combined with a fully custom-clad staircase, matching-color skirting boards, and caulking that complements the walls.
The existing tiled floor was the starting point. To install a smooth glued-down PVC floor over it, we first sanded and then leveled the subfloor. This created a flat and stable base for the new cohesive finish.
The existing situation
The home had large gray floor tiles. Although this tiled floor was sturdy, the joints and localized differences in height made it unsuitable for installing a glued-down PVC floor directly over it.
The staircase was also fully tiled. The residents wanted to create one calm, cohesive look, with the new wood-look floor extending not only through the different living spaces but also onto the staircase.

Sanding and leveling a tiled floor
A dryback PVC floor is only a few millimeters thick and is glued directly to the subfloor. Unevenness, joints, and differences in height may therefore become visible later.
We mechanically sanded and carefully prepared the existing tiled floor. The floor was then leveled to create a smooth and stable base. The subfloor was also prepared in the smaller spaces and around fixed elements.

Straight dryback PVC in Light Oak
For this home, straight PVC planks in Light Oak were chosen. The light wood tone brings warmth to the interior and creates a calm contrast with the black window frames and neutral walls.
The straight plank makes the different spaces appear larger and calmer. Because the same flooring continues through the living room, kitchen, bedrooms, passages and bathroom, it creates visual cohesion throughout the home.
Dryback PVC was a suitable choice for this project because of its low installation height, stable adhesive bond and the ability to finish connections neatly around doors, cabinets and other fixed elements.
The flooring continued throughout the entire home
The Light Oak PVC flooring continues through the living area, kitchen, bedrooms, hallways and bathroom. This visually connects the spaces and creates a calm foundation for the interior.
A custom-clad PVC staircase
The existing tiled staircase was fully clad to measure with the same Light Oak PVC as the rest of the home. Every tread, riser and irregular angle was measured individually and made to fit.
This staircase was not fitted with wide overlay treads or prominent nosings. The edges were finished with narrow metal strips. This keeps the staircase light and sleek and complements the modern stainless-steel balustrade.
The landing and the three triangular winder steps were also cut to size. A staircase with various angles requires precise custom work and careful finishing.
Skirting boards and colour-matched caulking
Skirting boards were installed along the walls in a colour that complements the interior. The connections were then sealed with colour-matched caulk.
This creates a seamless connection between the floor, skirting boards and walls. Corners, doorways and hard-to-reach areas were finished individually, ensuring that the final result looks beautiful not only from a distance but also stands up to scrutiny in the details.
What we carried out in Benissa
- the existing tiled floor inspected and mechanically sanded;
- approximately 130 m² of subfloor levelled;
- straight Light Oak dryback PVC glued down;
- the floor laid throughout several living spaces and the bathroom;
- the existing tiled staircase fully clad to measure;
- stair edges finished with narrow metal strips;
- colour-matched skirting boards installed;
- joints finished with colour-matched sealant.
The final result
The home now has one calm, light-coloured floor that runs from the living areas through to the bedrooms, bathroom, and staircase. The Light Oak wood look brings warmth to the interior without making the spaces feel dark or heavy.
The custom staircase is an important part of the project. By using the same PVC flooring on the treads and risers, the former tiled staircase has become part of the overall interior.
