PVC herringbone floor in Rojales
In this home in Rojales, we finished the existing tiled floor with glued PVC in a herringbone pattern. The new floor was continued through the living room, living room, kitchen, and bedroom, and finished with 12-centimeter-high skirting boards.

Preparing and leveling the tiled floor

Installing PVC herringbone
Once the leveling compound had dried and been sanded, the herringbone pattern could be laid out. The first lines determine the rest of the home. If the beginning is not right, the pattern will become crooked further on.
For this home, glued PVC, also known as dryback PVC, was chosen. The planks are glued directly to the prepared subfloor. This means the floor is fixed in place, allowing the different rooms to be finished without loose connecting the transition profiles to one another.

One floor throughout the different rooms
The PVC herringbone flooring was continued through several areas of the home. This means creating a harmonious whole with no unnecessary changes in material between the kitchen, living room, and bedroom.
The calm wood color complements the light walls and allows the herringbone pattern to clearly visible without the floor becoming too prominent.
Neatly connected at the stairs
With a continuous floor, the connections are at least as important as the large surface. Around the stairs, the PVC flooring was precisely fitted. This ensures the pattern connects neatly and prevents a wide or messy edge visible.
Finishing with 12 cm high skirting boards
After installation, 12-centimetre-high skirting boards were fitted. High skirting boards give the room a finished appearance and suit the proportions of this home.
The joints along the skirting boards were then caulked. For different walls, For this, sealant matching the wall colour was used. As a result, the joint stands out much less than with a hard white sealant line.
The final result
The herringbone pattern flows beautifully throughout the home and, together with the high skirting boards, forms one as a whole. The connection at the staircase and the colour-matched caulking in particular show how much difference careful finishing makes.

What should you really look out for with a herringbone PVC floor in Rojales?
A good choice does not start with colour alone. We also assess the construction, wear layer, dimensional stability, pattern repetition, and suitability of click or dryback flooring. These factors determine whether a floor remains stable after installation, feels comfortable to walk on, and suits the home's everyday use. A new floor always depends on the quality of the base. Loose tiles, deep joints, differences in height, residual moisture, and cracks must be assessed beforehand. A level floor is not automatically a suitable floor; stability and adhesion are at least as important. During renovations, we also look at doors, sliding doors, kitchen plinths, and connections to other rooms.
By measuring accurately in advance, we prevent surprises during installation. We record what preparation is required and which system makes technical sense. Sometimes direct installation is possible; sometimes levelling or local repairs are necessary. You cannot see this honest difference on a small colour sample, but you will see it in the final result.
