Custom sheer curtains – La Vila Joiosa

For this home in La Vila Joiosa, we made and installed lightweight custom sheer curtains. The large windows were not meant to be hidden, but the room could use a little more atmosphere and softness.

The sheer curtains filter the bright daylight without making the room dark. The view also remains visible, making the curtains a great fit for this bright home on the Costa Blanca.

Curtains without blocking the view

Choosing curtains for large windows can sometimes be difficult. A solid fabric can quickly look heavy and block part of the view. Having no window coverings at all can make the room feel bare and unsettled.

That is why sheer curtains were chosen here. The transparent fabric creates a soft layer in front of the glass, while preserving the daylight and open feel of the home.

Softer light in the room

The sun on the Costa Blanca can shine quite intensely through large windows. Sheer curtains do not keep out the heat like a screen does, but they do soften the direct light and reduce harsh glare in the room.

During the day, the fabric also provides some protection from outside visibility. Sheer curtains do not offer complete privacy. When it is dark outside and the lights are on inside, transparent fabric remains see-through.

Custom-made and installed

The window area was first measured in full. We looked at the width and height, the position of the tracks, and the space needed to slide the curtains open to the sides.

After they were made, we hung and checked the curtains ourselves. The length was tailored to the floor, and the fabric was evenly distributed along the track so that the curtains drape beautifully across the entire width.

The end result

The large windows are still an important part of the room, but no longer look bare. The sheer curtains soften the light and connect the window area with the rest of the interior.

The result is light and airy, exactly what sheer curtains are intended to achieve. Not a curtain that takes over the entire room, but one that instantly makes the space feel more finished.

Sheer curtains in La Vila Joiosa?

Whether sheer curtains are suitable for your home depends on how much light you want to retain and how much privacy you need. If complete privacy in the evening is important, sheer curtains can also be combined with in-between curtains, blackout curtains, or other window coverings.
