How much does a click PVC floor cost in Spain?

The final price depends, among other things, on the product chosen, the condition of the existing tiled floor, the installation pattern, the required cutting waste and the desired finish with skirting boards and profiles.

How much does a click PVC floor cost per m²?

The prices below provide an initial indication:

• Click PVC flooring: from €50.00 per m²
• Professional installation: from €20.00 per m²
• Base price for flooring and installation: from €70.00 per m²

This base price excludes any subfloor preparation, skirting boards, transition profiles, adjustments to doors and disposal of an existing floor.

Example calculation: click PVC for 60 m²

For a house or apartment with 60 m² of floor area, a simple example calculation is as follows:

• 60 m² click PVC from €50.00: €3,000
• 60 m² installation from €20.00: €1,200

When calculating the required amount of flooring, cutting waste must be taken into account. The amount of cutting waste depends on the shape of the rooms, the size of the planks and the chosen installation pattern.

Skirting boards, profiles and any preparatory work are also calculated separately. The example price is therefore not a final quote, but a realistic initial indication.

What is a click PVC floor?

Click PVC is a type of flooring in which the planks are connected using a click system. The floor is installed as a floating floor and is not fully glued to the subfloor.

Many modern click PVC floors have a sturdy SPC core. Some models also have an integrated underlay. As a result, installation in suitable rooms can be completed more quickly than with glued dryback PVC.

That does not mean that click PVC can be installed on every existing floor without inspection. The subfloor must be stable, sufficiently level, clean, and dry. The manufacturer's specifications, direct sunlight, and the required clearance around the floor must also be taken into account.

Can click PVC be installed over existing tiles?

Many homes on the Costa Blanca already have a tiled floor. If these tiles are stable and sufficiently level, click PVC can, in certain situations, be installed over the existing floor.

Before we make this recommendation, we check, among other things:

• whether the tiles are firmly fixed;
• whether there are any height differences or damage;
• whether the joints are too deep or wide;
• whether the floor meets the manufacturer's flatness requirements;
• whether sufficient clearance remains at doors and sliding doors;
• whether there are any moisture problems.

A click floor cannot compensate for minor surface irregularities indefinitely. In the case of larger height differences, loose tiles, or an unstable subfloor, the floor must first be repaired or leveled.

When does the subfloor need to be leveled?

With dryback PVC, the subfloor is almost always leveled because the flooring is glued directly to it. With click PVC, full leveling is not always necessary, but the existing floor must meet the technical requirements of the selected product.

The permitted deviation varies by manufacturer and flooring system. That is why we assess the subfloor before determining whether direct installation is possible. After all, a poor subfloor does not disappear just because a beautiful box of PVC is placed on top of it.

When is click PVC a good choice?

Click PVC can be a suitable solution for:

• apartments and holiday homes;
• renovations where the existing tiled floor is retained;
• rooms where a floating floor is technically feasible;
• projects where a short installation time is important;
• homes where additional impact sound reduction is desired, provided that the chosen system is suitable for this purpose;
• situations where the floor may need to be removed relatively easily at a later stage.

For large spaces, extensive direct sunlight, heavy temperature exposure, or a floor that must be completely sleek and stable, dryback PVC may be a better choice. We therefore provide advice based on the property rather than solely on the difference in price.

What additional costs may be added?

In addition to the flooring and installation labour, the following work or materials may be required:

• removing and disposing of the existing floor;
• spot repairs or full levelling of the subfloor;
• additional underlay if it is not integrated;
• skirting boards and finishing along walls;
• transition and expansion profiles;
• shortening or adjusting doors;
• additional cutting waste for complicated spaces or patterns.

Click PVC or dryback PVC?

Click PVC generally has lower preparation costs when the existing floor is sufficiently level. Dryback PVC requires more preparation, but often provides the sleekest and most stable end result.

The more cost-effective flooring option ultimately depends on more than just the price of the material. The subfloor, installation, finishing, and lifespan must all be taken into account.
