In El Campello, we have installed a high-quality PVC floor in a herringbone pattern. The existing floor was fairly flat but not good enough to work on directly.

That’s why we first leveled it. Only with a perfect base does a pattern like herringbone really come to life.

The situation

The subfloor initially seemed fine, but with these types of floors, even small imperfections immediately show in the final result.

To prevent problems and visible irregularities, we fully prepared and leveled the floor first.

Preparing the subfloor

Before the new floor could be installed, we thoroughly checked and prepared the existing subfloor.

The floor was then leveled to create a smooth and stable base for the herringbone pattern.

Especially with patterns like herringbone and chevron, a flat subfloor is extremely important. Small height differences or unevenness quickly become visible in the floor otherwise.

The chosen PVC floor

For this home, a glued dryback PVC floor in a herringbone pattern was selected.

This type of floor ensures a sleek final result and remains stable with temperature changes, which is especially important in homes on the Costa Blanca with lots of sunlight and large sliding doors.

Additionally, the herringbone pattern immediately adds more character to the home without making the interior look busy.

What we did

- leveled the floor
- glued a dryback PVC floor
- carefully laid out and installed the herringbone pattern
- installed baseboards
- sealed top and bottom for a neat finish
