Remove urine stains from your floor, carpet, or furniture

Removing urine stains from your floor, carpet, or furniture

Urine in the home usually causes two problems at once: a visible stain and an odor that may return later.

A child's, dog's, or cat's accident may seem to have disappeared after drying, but residue can remain in the material. Heat or moisture can cause the odor to become noticeable again.

That is why, with urine, it is important not only to treat the discoloration but also to clean the area properly.

Which stains does this cover?

This approach applies to, among other things:

  • urine
  • dog urine
  • cat urine
  • children's urine
  • urine from other pets

Urine can penetrate deeper than it appears on the surface, especially in carpets, rugs, and upholstery.

Why are urine stains so stubborn?

Urine contains, among other things, water, salts, and waste products.

As a result, urine can:

  • penetrate deep into fibers or seams;
  • leave a yellowish or dark discoloration;
  • continue to smell after drying;
  • seep into underlying padding or the subfloor;
  • become more noticeable again when exposed to heat or moisture.

Scrubbing hard or using various home remedies is therefore rarely a good idea.
