Subfloor and technical preparation

The base must be dry, clean and level. Depending on the quality, carpet is glued directly, stretched or combined with underlay. Seams, direction, doors and skirting boards are planned in advance. On stairs, tread distribution, nosing finish and secure fixing are particularly important.

We also check whether existing tiles are securely fixed, whether joints need to be levelled and whether there are signs of moisture or cracking. Doors, kitchen plinths, sliding doors and transitions can determine the maximum possible build-up height.

Suitable for living on the Costa Blanca

Large glazed areas, direct sunlight and homes that sometimes remain closed for weeks require attention. Ventilation, air conditioning and solar shading affect the indoor climate; flooring materials must be stored and installed in accordance with the technical specifications. In apartments, we also consider impact sound and the rules of the comunidad.

For a holiday home, easy maintenance may be a priority, while softness and quiet are more important in a bedroom. In a permanently occupied villa, continuous sightlines and coordination with the kitchen and stairs often take centre stage. The same product is therefore not automatically the best choice for every room.

Colour, direction and finish

Natural sand, greige and stone shades complement the light on the Costa Blanca, but texture is at least as influential as colour. A mottled pile often conceals everyday use better; a dense, solid-colour pile creates a calmer and more luxurious look.

We recommend viewing material samples together with wall colour, kitchen fronts and curtains. Cool grey can appear harsher in Spanish sunlight; warm oak tones can look more yellow. A calm mid-tone is often more forgiving of sand and everyday use than an extremely light or dark shade.

Maintenance and lifespan

Regular, gentle vacuuming prevents sand from grinding deep into the pile. Blot stains rather than rubbing them. Use only a product suitable for the fibre and backing, and test it first in an inconspicuous area. A good entrance mat visibly extends the carpet’s lifespan.

At handover, ask which cleaner and protection are suitable for the chosen flooring. Maintenance advice should be specific: how often to clean, how much product to use and what to do in the event of stains or damage. This helps prevent well-intentioned but harmful cleaning experiments.

What determines the price?

The price consists of more than just the material. Surface area, cutting waste, pattern, preparation, adhesive or underlay, skirting boards, profiles, transport and accessibility all count. A straight, empty room is planned differently from an occupied apartment with many doors and fixed furniture.
