Sheer curtains with a single pleat in Altea la Vella – with curved rails
In-between curtains with a single pleat in Altea la Vella – with curved tracks
For this home in Altea la Vella, we made light in-between curtains with a single pleat. The windows and walls do not run in one straight line here. That is why we bent the curtain track on site during installation.
This way, the curtains follow the shape of the room, creating one continuous line along the glass. The fabric softens the bright light and provides more privacy, without making the room dark.
A straight track was not suitable here
The glass panels follow the shape of the house. With separate straight tracks, interruptions and awkward connections would also arise. Moreover, the curtains would not be able to hang beautifully along the entire window wall slid.
That is why we chose a track that was shaped correctly during installation curved. This allowed us to adjust the bend precisely to the room, instead of rather than having to adapt the room to a standard track.
Why an in-between curtain was chosen here
The large windows let in plenty of daylight. Fully closed blackout curtains would quickly look too heavy during the day, while completely transparent sheer curtains provide little privacy.
An in-between curtain sits exactly between the two. The fabric lets light in, but reduces direct views and the harshest glare from the room. During the day the room therefore remains bright while the interior still feels much more dressed.

Made with a single pleat
The curtains are made with a single pleat. This pleat uses less fabric than a double pleat and gives the curtain a loose, calm drape. This pairs well with the light in-between fabric and the relaxed look of the property.
A fuller pleat would create more volume, but also take up more space when the curtains are open. With the single pleat, the stack at the side remains relatively compact, leaving as much glass uncovered as possible.

Measured, made, and installed
For this project, we measured the entire window installation and determined where the curtains had to be able to open. The sheers were then made to measure made.
During installation, the track was bent and adapted to the shape of the property. The curtains were then hung and the height was checked on site checked.
The final result
The curtains now run as one continuous whole along the windows and follow the curve of the room. When closed, they filter the bright daylight and provide more privacy. When open, they can be neatly pushed to the side.
The light fabric keeps the room feeling spacious and open, while also making it much warmer. Exactly what curtains are meant to do: you notice the difference immediately, without demanding all the attention.
