Subfloor and technical preparation

The base must be dry, clean and level. Depending on the quality, carpet is glued directly, stretched or combined with underlay. Seams, direction of the pile, doors and skirting boards are planned in advance. On stairs, tread layout, nosing finish and secure fastening are especially important.

We also check whether existing tiles are firmly fixed, whether joints need to be levelled and whether there are signs of moisture or cracking. Doors, kitchen plinths, sliding doors and transitions can determine the maximum possible build-up height.

Suitable for living on the Costa Blanca

Large expanses of glass, direct sunlight and homes that sometimes remain closed for weeks require attention. Ventilation, air conditioning and solar shading affect the indoor climate; flooring materials must be stored and installed according to the technical specifications. In apartments, we also consider impact sound and community regulations.

For a holiday home, easy maintenance may be a major priority, while softness and quiet are more important in a bedroom. In a permanently occupied villa, continuous sightlines and the connection with the kitchen and stairs often play the leading role. Colour, direction and finishing

Natural sand, greige and stone tones complement the light on the Costa Blanca beautifully, but texture is at least as influential as colour. A flecked pile often conceals everyday use better; a dense, plain pile creates a calmer and more luxurious look.

We recommend viewing material samples together with wall colours, kitchen fronts and curtains. Cool grey can appear harsher in Spanish sunlight, while warm oak tones may look more yellow. A calm mid-tone is often more forgiving of sand and everyday use than an extremely light or dark shade.

Maintenance and lifespan

Regular, gentle vacuuming prevents sand from wearing deep into the pile. Blot stains rather than rubbing them. Use only a product suitable for the fibre and backing, and test it first in an inconspicuous area. A good entrance mat visibly extends the lifespan.

At handover, ask which cleaner and protection are suitable for the chosen flooring. Maintenance advice should be specific: how often to clean, how much product to use and what to do in the event of stains or damage. This helps prevent well-intentioned but harmful cleaning experiments.

The price consists of more than the material. Surface area, cutting waste, pattern, preparation, adhesive or underlay, skirting boards, profiles, transport and accessibility all count. A straight, empty room is planned differently from an occupied apartment with many doors and fixed furniture.
