Engineered parquet is made up of multiple layers glued crosswise.
Advantages:
- less movement (shrinking and expanding)
- better heat conduction
- more stable with temperature differences
This makes it better suited for underfloor heating.
The subfloor and installation
The base determines the result.
Important:
- flat and dry subfloor
- often leveling is needed
- fully glue down the floor
A floating installation (such as click systems) is usually discouraged on underfloor heating.
Heat conduction and efficiency
Wood is a natural insulating material.
That means:
- heat transfer is less than with PVC or tiles
- the system has to work a bit harder
Still, it can work well with a good system and proper installation.
Temperature and usage
Rules apply for parquet on underfloor heating:
- max floor temperature ± 27°C
- build temperature gradually
- no large fluctuations
Rapid temperature changes can cause damage.
Moisture and humidity
Wood and moisture are inseparably connected.
Important:
- stable humidity
- no extreme dryness caused by air conditioning or heating
Especially important in Spain due to climate and use of air conditioning.

- not taking temperature build-up into account
- poor preparation of the subfloor

Parquet on underfloor heating is a good choice if:
