Beautiful Living on the Costa Blanca · October 2026
Espresso brown, warm khaki, indigo blue and deep blue-green: the color selections for 2026 offer plenty of scope for an interior with more color and depth. October is a good time to consider which of these options might suit your own home. Perhaps you would like new curtains, a different floor or a rug that immediately gives the living room a new feel.
For this edition of Beautiful Living on the Costa Blanca, we are taking inspiration from the color choices of various interior paint brands. Our interpretation for floors, curtains and rugs will help you create your own combination at home, while making room for the light and relaxed feeling of living in Spain.
Espresso brown for warmth and contrast
Deep brown has a clear place in the color inspiration for 2026. Benjamin Moore chose Silhouette AF-655 as its color of the year: a dark espresso shade with a charcoal undertone.
Our interpretation for a Mediterranean living room: chocolate-brown curtains alongside a light oak-look floor and a cream-colored rug. This gives the window more emphasis while keeping the room bright. Already have a dark floor? Then choose a lighter curtain fabric instead and bring the deep brown back in an armchair or the border of a rug.
Warm khaki as a calm foundation
For those who enjoy working with natural tones, khaki is a beautiful direction. Sherwin-Williams named Universal Khaki SW 6150 its color of the year 2026. This warm earth tone works well in an interior with wood and woven fabrics.
For example, combine khaki-colored curtains with a natural oak-look floor and a sand-colored rug. Pay attention to the undertones: a yellowish fabric can look unexpectedly different next to a pinkish beige. So make sure to place the samples next to each other. Olive-green accessories can add a little more color to this calm foundation.
Indigo blue for a stronger accent
For 2026, Dulux chose an entire family of indigo blues under the name The Rhythm of Blues: Free Groove, Mellow Flow and Slow Swing. The selection offers different levels of lightness within the same color direction.
In a home on the Costa Blanca, we love blue alongside warm wood tones and off-white. Think of an indigo curtain with light voile curtains in front, or a blue rug beneath a light-colored sofa. If you prefer a subtle look, choose blue accents and keep the floor and curtains calm. This allows you to build up the amount of color gradually.
Deep blue-green for a distinctive interior
Dark blue-green is also a clear direction in the palettes for 2026. Benjamin Moore included Narragansett Green HC-157 in its Color Trends 2026 selection. The brand describes this shade as a very dark blue-green, also known as teal.
This color works beautifully as a larger expanse of fabric, for example in full-length curtains, alongside a warm oak-look floor. Keep the rug light, or choose a calm color that is echoed in the sofa. Does your living room receive little daylight? Try a dark blue-green first with a generous fabric sample; a large surface has much more impact than a small color chip.

Let the materials work with the colors
Color alone is not enough. A matte floor with a visible wood structure, a supple woven curtain and a soft rug can make the same shade look completely different. With the deeper colors mentioned above, we particularly like this difference in texture. A linen-look fabric appears airier; a denser, smoother curtain fabric creates a fuller effect.
Give the floor a deliberate role too. Straight planks create a calm linear effect; herringbone adds more pattern. Both can work with these colors. Explore our PVC floors on the Costa Blanca and compare the wood tone carefully with your chosen fabrics. For renovations, installing PVC over existing tiles may sometimes be an option, after assessing and preparing the subfloor.
Three combinations to get started
Light and Mediterranean: a natural oak-look floor, khaki-colored or sand-colored curtains and a cream-colored rug. Add some olive green through accessories. This combination works well when you want to keep the space light and calm.
Warm and rich: a light floor with chocolate-brown curtains and a sand-colored rug. Echo a dark wood tone in a piece of furniture. Keep the other large surfaces calm so the curtains can really stand out.
Blue with character: a warm oak-look floor with indigo or deep blue-green curtains. Combine with a light-colored sofa and a soft rug in warm white. Choose one of the two blue directions as the main color, so you can easily see which other materials work with it.
Adapt the color to your home
View the samples where the material will eventually be used: place the floor sample on the ground and hold the curtain fabric upright in front of the window. Compare them in daylight and in the evening with the lights on. A color that looks beautiful in the showroom must also work with your own walls and furniture.
When it comes to made-to-measure curtains, we also consider light transmission and privacy. Transparent fabrics do not automatically provide sufficient privacy when the lights are on indoors. For a made-to-measure rug, we coordinate the color and dimensions with the seating area. You can therefore start with one well-chosen element and combine further later.
