Frequently Asked Questions About LVT Flooring in Spain

Veelgestelde vragen over PVC vloeren in Spanje (FAQ)

LVT flooring has become increasingly popular in recent years, also along the Costa Blanca. It offers a stylish appearance, comfort underfoot and is easy to maintain, making it suitable for many different homes.

In our showroom in Altea we receive many questions about LVT floors every day. In this article we answer the most common questions from homeowners and apartment owners in Spain.

Is LVT flooring suitable for the Spanish climate?

Yes, LVT flooring works very well in Spanish homes. The material is stable, resistant to temperature changes and comfortable to walk on.

In homes along the Costa Blanca, where summers can be hot and winters cooler, a quality LVT floor generally remains stable.

However, professional installation and a properly prepared subfloor are essential.

Is LVT flooring waterproof?

Yes. LVT itself is completely water resistant. This makes it a good option for kitchens, bathrooms and apartments where water may occasionally reach the floor.

However, moisture trapped underneath the floor can still cause problems, for example in the case of leaks. That is why proper installation and a level subfloor are important.

Can LVT flooring be installed over tiles?

Sometimes, but not always.

Many homes in Spain have existing tile floors. In some cases LVT flooring can be installed over tiles, but often the floor needs to be levelled first.

Tile joints and uneven surfaces can otherwise become visible through the LVT flooring.

A flooring specialist can determine whether levelling is required.

Is LVT flooring suitable for underfloor heating?

Yes. LVT is actually one of the best flooring options for underfloor heating.

The material conducts heat efficiently and allows warmth to pass through easily, making the floor comfortable quickly.

LVT also works very well with underfloor cooling systems, which are increasingly common in modern Spanish homes.

Is LVT flooring quiet?

Yes. LVT floors absorb sound better than many other flooring types such as tiles or laminate.

This makes them especially suitable for apartments where sound reduction is important.

How do you maintain a LVT floor?

LVT floors are easy to maintain.

Regular vacuuming and occasional mopping with a suitable LVT cleaner is usually enough. Sanding, oiling or special treatments are not required.

This makes LVT a practical choice for families and holiday homes.

How long does a LVT floor last?

A high-quality LVT floor can last for many years. The lifespan depends on several factors:

  • material quality

  • thickness of the wear layer

  • installation quality

  • intensity of use

With normal residential use, a LVT floor can remain beautiful for a long time.

Is LVT a good choice for Costa Blanca apartments?

Yes. LVT flooring is widely used in apartments along the Costa Blanca.

It is:

  • comfortable

  • quiet

  • easy to maintain

  • suitable for intensive use

For this reason LVT is often chosen for apartment renovations and holiday homes.
