UZIN KE 2428 NEW Multifunctional Flooring Adhesive 14 kg

UZIN KE 2428 NEW is a solvent-free dispersion adhesive for the fast and reliable bonding of PVC, cushioned vinyl, dryback LVT, linoleum, rubber, and various types of carpet.

The adhesive sets quickly, has a short airing time, and at the same time provides sufficient time to carefully install the floor covering. Thanks to its high initial and final adhesion, KE 2428 is suitable for a wide range of applications in residential and commercial spaces.

The adhesive is used on level, absorbent, and professionally prepared substrates and is intended exclusively for indoor use.

Suitable substrates

UZIN KE 2428 is used on:

  • Level and absorbent smoothing layers
  • Cement-based smoothing compounds
  • Gypsum-based smoothing compounds
  • Professionally prepared cement screeds
  • Professionally prepared calcium sulfate and anhydrite floors
  • Floors with hydronic underfloor heating
  • Suitable absorbent renovation substrates

The statement “suitable for anhydrite” does not mean that the product can be bonded directly to an untreated anhydrite floor. The floor must first be inspected, sanded, vacuumed, primed, and, if necessary, levelled.

Substrate preparation

The substrate must:

  • Have sufficient load-bearing capacity and dimensional stability
  • Remain permanently dry
  • Be level and smooth
  • Be clean and dust-free
  • Be free of cracks
  • Have uniform absorbency
  • Be free of oil, grease, wax, and other substances that impair adhesion

Remove loose sections, weak layers, and poorly adhering adhesive or smoothing compound residues. Sand the substrate if necessary and then vacuum it thoroughly.

Use a suitable UZIN primer and smoothing compound to create a flat, evenly absorbent substrate. Small irregularities may remain visible after bonding, particularly with PVC and vinyl.

Application

  1. Allow the closed bucket to reach room temperature before application.
  2. Stir the adhesive thoroughly.
  3. Apply the adhesive evenly using the specified adhesive trowel.
  4. Use the trowel notch size suitable for the backing of the floor covering.
  5. Do not apply more adhesive than can be worked within the open time.
  6. Allow a flash-off time of approximately 5–20 minutes.
  7. Place the floor covering in the adhesive bed within the open time.
  8. Carefully rub or roll the floor covering into place.
  9. Make sure the adhesive ridges are completely flattened.
  10. Re-roll the surface after approximately 20 minutes.
  11. Press seams, edges, and raised sections down especially well.
  12. Remove fresh adhesive residue immediately with water.

The required amount of adhesive and flash-off time depend on the substrate, trowel notch size, floor covering, temperature, and humidity.

Application times

At approximately 20 °C and 65% relative humidity:

Property Time
Flash-off time approx. 5–20 minutes
Open time approx. 10–45 minutes
Mechanically loadable after approx. 24–48 hours
Welding or joining seams according to the covering and product specifications
Final strength after approx. 3 days

The minimum floor temperature during application is 15 °C.

Consumption

The official total consumption range is approximately 230–600 g/m². The correct value depends on the adhesive trowel and the backing of the floor covering.

Application Indicative consumption Coverage with 14 kg
Smooth PVC or CV covering approx. 250–300 g/m² approx. 46.7–56 m²
Lightly structured PVC or carpet backing approx. 300–350 g/m² approx. 40–46.7 m²
More heavily structured carpet backing approx. 400–500 g/m² approx. 28–35 m²
Coarse backing structure up to approx. 600 g/m² approx. 23.3 m²

Actual consumption must be adjusted to the specified trowel notch size for the floor covering.
