UZIN NC 587 FusionTec Fast-Drying Thin Screed – 20 kg

The UZIN NC 587 FusionTec is a self-levelling, virtually shrinkage-free and extremely fast-drying thin screed for layer thicknesses of 3 to 50 mm. The product was developed to quickly create level, bonded substrates in residential and commercial projects.

Even with thicker layers and less favourable climatic conditions, the floor is quickly ready for further finishing. Layer thicknesses of up to 50 mm are ready for installation after approximately 48 hours under normal conditions.

Thanks to its good flow properties and pumpability, UZIN NC 587 is particularly suitable for large surfaces. The product can also be used for embedding suitable hot-water and electric underfloor heating systems.

Key properties

  • Self-levelling FusionTec thin screed
  • Suitable for layer thicknesses from 3 to 50 mm
  • Extremely fast-drying
  • Up to 50 mm, ready for installation after approximately 48 hours
  • Reliable drying under less favourable conditions
  • Cures with virtually no shrinkage
  • Suitable for large surfaces
  • Suitable for manual application and pumping
  • Suitable for embedding underfloor heating
  • Working time of approximately 40 minutes
  • Walkable after approximately 2 to 3 hours
  • Suitable for floor coverings, parquet, tiles and natural stone
  • For indoor use

The stated times apply at approximately 20 °C and a relative humidity of 65%. Different conditions may affect application and drying.

Applications

UZIN NC 587 FusionTec can be used for:

  • Creating bonded thin screeds
  • Levelling height differences from 3 to 50 mm
  • Creating floor surfaces ready for installation quickly
  • Embedding hot-water underfloor heating systems
  • Embedding suitable electric underfloor heating systems
  • Large surfaces that are pumped mechanically
  • Renovation and new-build projects
  • Commercial projects with tight deadlines

UZIN NC 587 is intended for bonded applications. For a non-bonded or floating floor construction, an approved product system must be used.

Suitable for floor coverings

UZIN NC 587 can be used as a substrate for:

  • PVC and LVT
  • Vinyl
  • Linoleum
  • Rubber
  • Carpet and other textile floor coverings
  • Other resilient floor coverings
  • Parquet
  • Ceramic tiles
  • Natural stone

For textile and resilient floor coverings, additional leveling may be necessary if the coarse texture of a thicker layer is not smooth enough for the final floor finish.

The floor is suitable for loads from swivel castors in accordance with DIN EN 12529.

Suitable substrates

UZIN NC 587 can be used, in combination with the appropriate preparation and primer, on, among others:

  • Cement screeds
  • Calcium sulfate and anhydrite screeds
  • Concrete
  • Magnesite and wood magnesite
  • Substrates with well-adhering, water-resistant adhesive residues
  • Old leveling layers
  • Ceramic tile floors
  • Natural stone floors
  • Terrazzo floors
  • Sanded mastic asphalt floors IC 10 and IC 15, up to a maximum layer thickness of 10 mm
  • Suitable underfloor heating systems

Substrate preparation

The substrate must be load-bearing, stable, permanently dry, clean, and free of cracks. Dirt, oil, grease, dust, and other substances that may reduce adhesion must be completely removed.

Cement and calcium sulfate screeds must be inspected, sanded, and carefully vacuumed in accordance with the applicable regulations.

Remove poorly adhering layers, loose adhesive residues, old leveling compounds, coatings, and paint residues by brushing, sanding, milling, or dust-free shot blasting. Then treat the substrate with a suitable UZIN primer and allow it to dry completely.

Before application, always consult the current technical data sheets for all products used.

Mixing and application

Pour 3.4 liters of clean, cold water into a clean mixing tub. Then gradually add the entire contents of the 20 kg bag while mixing.

Mix the material mechanically with a suitable basket mixer until it forms a fluid, homogeneous, lump-free compound.

Pour the compound onto the substrate and spread it evenly with a smoothing trowel, squeegee, or spike squeegee. If necessary, use a spiked roller to remove trapped air and improve the surface.

Preferably apply the desired layer thickness in a single operation. For large surfaces, the product can be pumped mechanically. UZIN Level Pins can be used to check the correct layer thickness.

Consumption

Average consumption is approximately 1.8 kg per m² per millimetre of layer thickness.

Layer thickness Consumption Area per 20 kg bag
3 mm approximately 5.4 kg/m² approximately 3.7 m²
5 mm approximately 9 kg/m² approximately 2.2 m²
10 mm approximately 18 kg/m² approximately 1.1 m²
25 mm approximately 45 kg/m² approximately 0.44 m²
50 mm approximately 90 kg/m² approximately 0.22 m²

Actual consumption depends on the layer thickness, the flatness of the substrate, and the selected floor build-up.

Drying time

Floor covering Layer thickness Indicative readiness for floor covering
Textile and resilient floor coverings 3–10 mm approximately 20 hours
Textile and resilient floor coverings 10–50 mm approximately 48 hours
Parquet up to 50 mm approximately 48 hours
Ceramic tiles and natural stone up to 50 mm approximately 48 hours

Always check that the screed is sufficiently dry before bonding. Additional moisture measurements or system-specific advice may be required for sensitive floor coverings.

Why choose UZIN NC 587 FusionTec?

UZIN NC 587 is suitable for projects where greater layer thicknesses need to be built up and finished quickly. Unlike traditional thick levelling and screed systems, this thin screed can be ready for floor covering after approximately 48 hours at a layer thickness of up to 50 mm.

The combination of rapid drying, virtually tension-free curing, and machine pumpability makes the product suitable for large-scale renovations, commercial projects, and floors with integrated heating.
