The UZIN NC 170 LevelStar is a high-quality, cement-based smoothing compound for leveling and smoothing substrates. Thanks to its excellent flow properties, it creates an exceptionally smooth and even surface, suitable as a base for almost all types of floor coverings and parquet.
The smoothing compound dries quickly, is walkable after approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, and under normal conditions is ready for floor covering installation after approximately 6 hours. Thanks to its high compressive and flexural tensile strength, UZIN NC 170 is suitable for heavily used areas in residential and commercial projects.
The product also dries reliably under less favorable climatic conditions and can be applied in both thin and thick layers.
Key properties
- Self-leveling cement-based smoothing compound
- Excellent flow properties
- Creates an exceptionally smooth surface
- High compressive and flexural tensile strength
- Working time of approximately 20 to 30 minutes
- Walkable after approximately 1.5 to 2 hours
- Ready for floor covering installation after approximately 6 hours
- Reliable drying under less favorable conditions
- Suitable for thin and thick layers
- Suitable for heavy loads
- Suitable for floor coverings, parquet, ceramics, and natural stone
- For indoor use
The times stated apply at approximately 20 °C and a relative humidity of 65%. Temperature, humidity, and layer thickness can affect the drying time.
Suitable substrates and applications
UZIN NC 170 LevelStar can be applied, in combination with the correct preparation and primer, to substrates including:
- Cement-based screeds
- Concrete floors
- Tiled floors
- Terrazzo floors
- Magnesite and wood magnesite
- Existing smoothing layers
- Substrates with water-resistant adhesive residues
- Substrates in residential and commercial spaces
The smoothing compound is suitable as a substrate for:
- PVC and vinyl
- Linoleum
- Carpet and other textile floor coverings
- Resilient floor coverings
- Most types of parquet
- Ceramic tiles
- Natural stone
- Arturo synthetic resin flooring
For parquet, a suitable Pallmann or UZIN adhesive must be used. From a layer thickness of 1 mm, the smoothing compound is suitable for loads from castor chairs in accordance with DIN EN 12529.
Substrate preparation
The substrate must be load-bearing, dimensionally stable, permanently dry, clean, and free of cracks. Dust, dirt, grease, loose particles, and other substances that may impair adhesion must be completely removed.
Weak or poorly bonded layers must be sanded, milled, or removed by another suitable method. Then vacuum the substrate thoroughly and treat it with a primer suitable for the substrate in question.
Always consult the current product data sheet and UZIN's application instructions before use.
Mixing and application
Pour approximately 5.2 litres of clean, cold water into a clean mixing tub. Then gradually add the full contents of the 20 kg bag.
Mix the material mechanically with a suitable basket mixer until a smooth, homogeneous, lump-free mixture is obtained. Allow the mixture to rest for a maximum of two minutes, then briefly mix it again.
Then pour the levelling compound onto the substrate and spread it evenly with a flat trowel or levelling rake. Ideally, apply the desired layer thickness in a single operation.
Consumption
Average consumption is approximately 1.5 kg per m² per millimetre of layer thickness.
| Layer thickness | Consumption | Coverage per 20 kg bag |
|---|---|---|
| 1 mm | approximately 1.5 kg/m² | approximately 13.3 m² |
| 3 mm | approximately 4.5 kg/m² | approximately 4.4 m² |
| 10 mm | approximately 15 kg/m² | approximately 1.3 m² |
Actual consumption depends on the evenness, structure, and absorbency of the substrate.
Thicker layers
For layer thicknesses of 20 to 50 mm, approximately 30% floor sand with a grain size of 0.3 to 0.8 mm can be added according to the supplied application information. This amounts to approximately 6 to 7 kg of sand per 20 kg bag.
For such layer thicknesses, always check the current technical product data sheet or ask UZIN for project-specific advice.
