UZIN KE 2000 S Universal PVC and Rubber Adhesive

UZIN KE 2000 S universal PVC and rubber adhesive

UZIN KE 2000 S is a high-performance, solvent-free dispersion adhesive for bonding PVC, LVT, cushioned vinyl, rubber, linoleum and various types of carpet.

The adhesive combines a short waiting time with a long open time and can be used for semi-wet, dry and contact bonding. This makes it suitable for a wide range of indoor floor and wall applications.

UZIN KE 2000 S is very easy to spread, heat-reactivatable and resistant to plasticizers. Once dry, the adhesive forms a strong, elastic and durable bond.

For special floor coverings, always check the manufacturer's bonding instructions and the current UZIN product data sheet.

Suitable applications

The adhesive can be used on:

  • Absorbent, levelled substrates
  • Cement-based levelling layers
  • Gypsum-based levelling layers
  • Suitable, level renovation substrates
  • Non-absorbent substrates suitable for dry or contact bonding
  • Floors with warm-water underfloor heating
  • Floors subject to castor-wheel loads
  • Floors in residential areas
  • Shops and commercial premises
  • Healthcare facilities and other project areas
  • Interior walls

Substrate preparation

The substrate must:

  • Be load-bearing and dimensionally stable
  • Be sufficiently dry
  • Be clean and dust-free
  • Be flat and free of cracks
  • Be free from oil, grease, wax and other substances that impair adhesion
  • Be uniformly absorbent for wet or semi-wet bonding

Remove loose layers, weak levelling-compound residues and poorly adhering adhesive residues. Sand the substrate if necessary, then vacuum it thoroughly.

Use a suitable UZIN primer and levelling compound to create a flat, smooth and uniformly absorbent substrate.

Non-absorbent and moisture-sensitive substrates generally need to be levelled to a minimum thickness of 2 mm before standard flooring installation work. Always follow UZIN's system build-up recommendations.

Application

  1. Allow the adhesive to reach room temperature before application.
  2. Stir the adhesive thoroughly.
  3. Apply the adhesive evenly with the notched trowel specified for the floor covering.
  4. Do not apply more adhesive than can be worked within the available working time.
  5. Observe the required waiting time. This depends on the substrate, trowel notch, temperature, humidity and floor covering.
  6. Place the floor covering in the adhesive bed and carefully rub or roll it down.
  7. Ensure that the adhesive ridges are completely flattened and avoid air entrapment.
  8. Re-roll the surface after approximately 20 minutes.
  9. Pay particular attention to seams, end edges and raised edges.
  10. Remove fresh adhesive residue immediately with water.

The exact trowel notch and bonding method must be matched to the floor covering. Always follow the floor covering manufacturer's instructions.

Application times

At approximately 20 °C and 65% relative humidity:

Property Time
Flash-off time approx. 10–45 minutes
Working time approx. 15–120 minutes
Mechanically loadable after approx. 24 hours
Seam welding after approx. 24 hours
Final strength after approx. 3 days

The times depend on the amount of adhesive used, the type of floor covering, the absorbency of the substrate and the conditions in the room.

Coverage

The official coverage is approximately 180–380 g/m².

Coverage Yield per 14 kg bucket
180 g/m² approx. 77.8 m²
220 g/m² approx. 63.6 m²
250 g/m² approx. 56.0 m²
300 g/m² approx. 46.7 m²
320 g/m² approx. 43.8 m²
380 g/m² approx. 36.8 m²

Actual coverage is determined by the trowel notch used, the backing of the floor covering and the structure of the substrate.
