01. Roller blinds
Roller blinds are closed by rolling them down. This way you determine how much light and view you let in. You can choose from different types: transparent, translucent or blackout. They are popular in the kitchen, because of the limited space that these types of curtains take up.
02. Duo roller blinds
A variation on the standard roller blind is the duo roller blind. This type of curtain consists of two pieces of fabric that move past each other. One is darkening and the other is transparent. This way you can easily switch between little and a lot of sunlight and a view during the day.
03. Folding blinds
Folding blinds are also opened by moving them from top to bottom. But, as the name suggests, you fold this type of curtain instead of rolling it up. The straight strips give it a unique look.
04. Pleated curtains
Pleated curtains are made of one piece of fabric and you fold them open and closed horizontally. When you pull them up, the fabric folds like an accordion. Because pleated curtains consist of one piece of fabric, they are not heavy and let light through. They can be operated with a handle or by means of a cord.
There are also two systems:
- Top-down: opening and closing from top to bottom
- Top-down/bottom-up: opening and closing from top to bottom, but also the other way around
05. Horizontal blinds
Blinds are horizontal strips made of aluminium or PVC. You open and close them with a cord and you can play with the incidence of light by changing the angle of the slats with a second cord. Luxaflex is the best-known brand of blinds. That is why they are also popularly called Luxaflex.
They are somewhat easier to clean than other types of curtains and are therefore especially popular in kitchens where the stove is on the window side. But it is also a popular type of window decoration in the living room and other rooms.
06. Vertical blinds
Slats are also called vertical blinds. They hang on a rail just like a classic curtain and open and close horizontally. But, just like with blinds, you can also turn the panels so you can play with the incidence of light.
